Laura Solomon is the Library Services Manager for OPLIN and former Web Applications Manager for Cleveland Public Library. She has been doing web development and design for over ten years, in both libraries and as an independent consultant. She has been involved in Second Life since 2006 and is the official webmaster for the international Second Life Library project.

Description:

What is Second Life, and how does it relate to libraries? What are libraries already doing in this virtual world (and should mine be there, too)? What's involved in getting involved? Come prepared to toss aside preconceived ideas and assumptions while you get answers to these questions and learn about the world's most popular online virtual environment. This session will include some hands-on exploration of some areas of Second Life.

Prerequisite:

Prior to the workshop, attendees must sign up for a FREE Second Life account, and go through the 10-minute tutorial on how to navigate in Second Life.
