Since 1996, Magda El-Sherbini has served as the Head of the Cataloging Department at The Ohio State University Libraries. She has been employed by OSU Libraries since 1987.
In addition to having several articles published, Magda El-Sherbini also currently acts as an adjunct professor for the Kent State Library and Information Science Masters program, most recently teaching the course "Organization of Library Materials."

The Fundamentals of Cataloging series covers the basics of cataloging in five sessions. Attend all the sessions or only the ones of interest.
In the first session, we will cover descriptive cataloging. Learn about the principles, rules and tools for bibliographic records that describes the material in hand. We will cover creating entries for author, title, publication information, physical description, series, and other aspects of a complete bibliographic description.
Any library technical services staff member new to cataloging OR anyone who would like a refresher course about the theory of cataloging.
