Magda El-Sherbini

Since 1996, Magda El-Sherbini has served as the Head of the Cataloging Department at The Ohio State University Libraries. She has been employed by OSU Libraries since 1987. In addition to having several articles published, Magda El-Sherbini also currently acts as an adjunct professor for the Kent State Library and Information Science Masters program, most recently teaching the course "Organization of Library Materials."

Description:

NEW curriculum and NEW instructor for 2009! The Fundamentals of Cataloging series covers the basics of cataloging in five sessions. Attend all the sessions or only the ones of interest. In this session, we will cover the theories behind the classification schemes (both Dewey Decimal and Library of Congress) used by most academic and public libraries. Participants will learn how these classifications are used for organization and access to materials.
