Health Sciences Libraries Kick off 2018 Midwest Chapter MLA with a Night at the Museum!
Attendees at the recent 2018 Midwest Chapter of the Medical Library Association Conference were treated to a unique opening act - a Night at the Museum. The Friday evening event was hosted by the Cleveland Medical Library Association and the Cleveland Health Sciences Library at the Allen Memorial Medical Library, Case Western Reserve University. After a delicious Greek dinner, library staff generously shared their time in the evening to offer tours of the Allen Library and Dittrick Medical History Center (open to the public), which showcases museum artifacts, archives, rare books collections and images. From the beautiful building to stories shared about medicine, healing and community through the exhibits and resources, everyone left with new impressions.
Special thanks to the CMLA and its board, Cleveland Health Sciences library, Christopher Dolwick, Dr. Anthony Tizzano, Tom Hayes and Jessica DeCaro for making the evening possible and sharing these library treasures.
Conference attendees packed in three more days of learning and sharing in Cleveland with 112 attendees, 32 companies/organizations, two keynote speakers, presentations, posters and round-table discussions with a vibrant Rock-n-Roll theme. Check out the greatest conference hits on the website. Many OhioNET members are represented. Cleveland Clinic librarians Mary Pat Harneige and Mary Schleicher co-chaired the conference along with an extensive planning committee. Ohio medical librarians may have taken their final bow for the 2018 conference, but are definitely rockin' on.
