OhioNET Vendor Roundtable Update

OhioNET’s Executive Director/CEO Nancy Kirkpatrick and eResources Coordinator Sarah Probst met with nearly 50 representatives from 24 OhioNET vendor and publisher partner organizations on May 28 to discuss the results of the recent State of Ohio Libraries survey.

This survey asked OhioNET members for information about their budgets, cuts to current and upcoming fiscal years, and any other data or anecdotal stories they wanted OhioNET to share with vendors and publishers.

OhioNET shared this anonymized survey data and requested that vendor partners hold resource renewal pricing flat for this year. The picture of Ohio’s library landscape that emerged from the aggregated data was starker than many representatives had initially realized. Conversation and questions centered around the survey data, including how vendors could support OhioNET members during this challenging time, through evolving processes and pricing to meet the changing needs of the library community.

The roundtable reaffirmed OhioNET’s commitment to our members and vendor partners; many vendor representatives followed up with both Nancy and Sarah afterwards to express their appreciation for feedback. To keep the conversation going, plans are being made for another vendor roundtable in Spring 2021.

Vendor and publisher representatives posed a handful of questions for OhioNET’s members. Please complete our short survey to provide partnering vendors and publishers with more information about how to best serve members.

OhioNET members will also have opportunities to meet with vendor representatives for short Q&A discussions hosted by OhioNET. Be sure to keep an eye out for additional information about these sessions!
