In a new program from Credo Reference, the award winning online reference library, US public libraries that subscribe to Credo General Reference will be able to provide their local public high school(s) with access to the subscription service at no additional cost.

Recognizing the increasing burden on public libraries to support the research needs of students at local schools, Credo Reference will be made available to a library’s local public high school(s). The students will now have unlimited access to trusted content from Credo’s 70+ publishers when it is time to write their research papers whether they are at school, home or the local library.

“Schools are struggling with shrinking budgets and an ever-increasing need for quality information resources,” remarked Emilie Smart, Head of Reference Services for East Baton Rouge Parish Library. “This new program from Credo Reference will have an immediate and positive impact for our students, teachers and community at large.”

“Public libraries have become a more important community resource than ever before. We are pleased to be able to offer this new program as a way to support public libraries and the schools they serve,” commented Mike Sweet, Credo Reference CEO, “and we encourage libraries to take advantage of the offer before the September 30th deadline.”

Subscribe to Byki Online for Libraries on or before June 30, 2010 and receive FREE Transparent Language Software for your library!

What is Transparent Language Library Edition software?
Transparent Language Library Edition software is an immersion program that enables learners to take basic vocabulary and quickly progress to more advanced comprehension and use. Grammar, vocabulary, reading, listening, pronunciation skills, and more are emphasized through the use of native language texts, videos, and stories that immerse the user in the foreign language and provide opportunities for language investigation, skill-building and role play.

Why should my library have both language programs?

  • Transparent Language Library Edition software is complimentary and consistent with Byki Online, so your library can now offer a uniform standard of language learning inside and outside of the library.
  • The programs share key learning elements (the Byki learning method is used by both programs) so transitioning from Byki to the more immersive TLLE program will be easy if the patron chooses to do so.
  • Transparent Language Library Edition software is designed to circulate outside of your library on a durable USB format and comes with a full replacement policy.
  • Transparent Language Library Edition software is in hundreds of libraries and has proven to be a format that is easily understood by patrons, circulates extremely well and has a very low theft/loss rate.

How do I get my free software?
If your library orders an annual Byki Online for Libraries subscription on or before the deadline, your library will receive free Transparent Language Library Edition software for your library. Depending on the size of your library, that means anywhere between $640 and $5,120 in free software!
