Duties: 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES TO PERFORM THE FOLLOWING:

The Medina Customer Service Department is looking for a vibrant, congenial individual to provide great customer service to members and staff. Duties include but are not limited to registering new members, checking out materials, assisting members with Library equipment, collecting monies, preparing and making bank deposits, resolving problems for members, processing library materials, processing  passport applications, answering telephones, serving as a receptionist welcoming members to the library and performing other clerical duties as assigned.

Requirements: 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates must possess a high school degree or equivalent and be a U.S. citizen, eligible to become a passport acceptance agent; one year experience working with the public; keyboarding skills; ability to learn computerized circulation system, perform simple calculations, use language effectively, be friendly in dealing with others, and ability to work as a team member.  Customer service experience a plus.

Candidate must possess a Bachelor degree in Graphic Design, Journalism, Public Relations or related field or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience in public relations with demonstrated writing ability and experience in desktop publishing, graphic design, and layout.  Experience in merchandising, graphic design, or public relations with an ability in layout and desktop publishing is required; word processing software and Adobe Creative Suite software; ability to communicate effectively, interact and respond appropriately to members, staff, community and vendors; and be a team member. Must possess and maintain a valid Ohio driver’s license with acceptable driving record.  Must be able to demonstrate aptitude for detailed and creative work and ability in design and layout.

The Outreach Services Department is looking for a friendly, energetic and adaptable individual to join our team that is committed to serving our members in outlying areas and those who are unable to visit the library.  The successful candidate will work directly with the public providing reader’s advisory, story times to preschoolers and programming predominantly for older adults, as well as drive and stock the Bookmobile and/or Outreach van.

Requirements: 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree and one year experience working with the public, excellent communication skills, knowledge of wide range of books and authors, familiarity with Microsoft Windows and the Internet, ability to learn use of the computerized automation system and electronic library resources, ability and willingness to work effectively with children, older adults and individuals with disabilities, and ability to work both independently and as a team member.  An Ohio Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is preferred; while the successful candidate must have or be able to acquire a CDL within six months of hire.  CDL training is provided.  Position is subject to DOT required alcohol/drug testing.  Physical demands include the ability to lift up to 25 pounds of material on occasion, sit, kneel, climb and move in other ways to engage with preschool children and caregivers.  Must be comfortable working in a moving vehicle.
