Series Information:

Fundamentals of Cataloging--our popular, long-running series of in-person training sessions--is now online!  The second set of sessions in the series will focus on the issues, fields, and elements to be considered when cataloging periodicals.  Please note that we will cover both physical and electronic serials records.  Each session includes dedicated practice and searching time, brief quizzes, and other learning engagement opportunities.

Session Description:

This first session in the Serials series will give an overview to serials cataloging.  We will describe the vocabulary and resources you need to get started.  Through this session, attendees will have the opportunity to...

  • understand the major differences between monograph and continuing resource cataloging

  • explore free resources and tools for cataloging serials

  • utilize examples of national standards to simplify serial cataloging

  • Attendees must have attended the in-person or online version of our Fundamentals of Cataoging: Introduction or have an appropriate combination of other course work or experience with basic cataloging concepts and workflows.
