About this Job
Ensures access to library resources by providing leadership, direction, and technical expertise for the Cuyahoga Community College Library’s technology infrastructure and systems. Responsible for providing and ensuring electronic resources service excellence that directly impacts student success.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Manages, troubleshoots, and administers College-wide integrated library systems (ILS)
· Serves as the College-wide point of contact for all ILS-related matters for each library, and responds with the appropriate advisement and consultation
· Configures, manages, and troubleshoots the library proxy server in collaboration with faculty librarians to ensure on and off campus access through the College’s web site and learning management system
· Manages the administrative accounts for all database providers, vendors, publishers, and consortium partners
· Quickly resolves database provider problems to ensure continuous College-wide student access to electronic resources
· Manages, troubleshoots, and customizes College-wide public catalog and discovery services in collaboration with faculty librarians
· Systematically collects and reports usage data for databases, eBooks, and eJournals and serves as the primary administrator for the College’s data analysis and reporting tool
· Supervises and manages the performance of the technical processing staff
· Serves as the primary technical liaison for our statewide collaborations
· Creates and maintains relevant procedural documentation
· Performs other duties as assigned
Salary
$60,000
Required Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Technology or related field
o Significant related experience may substitute for education
· Minimum of five years of demonstrated professional library and/or academic experience with at least two years' experience in a library technical services position
· Demonstrated professional experience in administering and managing Integrated Library Systems (ILS) and related interoperable software, e.g. Discovery Layer, Proxy Server, etc.
· Demonstrated understanding of access issues associated with electronic resources
· Demonstrated experience, knowledge and enthusiasm for evaluating and integrating emerging library technologies
· Demonstrated experience supervising, planning, assigning, scheduling and ensuring the quality of the work of others
· Demonstrated experience effectively making decisions that have major implications on the management and operations within a department
· Demonstrated effectiveness in a role requiring dynamic and abstract problem solving methods in adaptive situations
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
· Demonstrated proficiency with office productivity software
· Ability to work effectively both collaboratively and independently in a diverse, fast-paced, service oriented environment
· Ability to effectively complete work assignments independently
· Ability to effectively respond to requests from multiple levels of the College in various departments
· Possess comprehensive knowledge of library systems theories, concepts, and practices with the ability to use in varied situations as it pertains to the departmental focus
· Possess intermediate project management skills
· Intermediate-level proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
· Possess strong organizational and time-management skills
· Possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
· Ability to work collaboratively
· Ability to research and analyze issues and develop solutions
· Ability to work accurately with great attention to detail
· Ability to confidentially and discreetly handle subject matters requiring privacy and sensitivity
· Ability to collaborate, negotiate and resolve conflicts on major projects
· Ability to develop and maintain relationships with key contacts to enhance work flow and quality
· Possess sensitivity to appropriately respond to the needs of a diverse population
Desired Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
· Master’s degree in a related field
· Demonstrated experience with administering Innovative Interfaces Sierra or Millennium ILS, Encore, and Decision Center
· Demonstrated experience managing and configuring EBSCO net services, e.g. EBSCOhost Holdings and Link Manager, A to Z, and Full Text Finder
· Demonstrated experience with EZProxy server management
· Demonstrated experience managing Springhare’s LibGuide CMS and LibAnswers with LibChat
· Demonstrated experience with relational database management systems, e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL, MS SQL
· Experience with Ellucian Banner, Blackboard LMS, and REST APIs
