Requirements: 

Requirements: Masters in Library Science, substantial coursework towards a Masters degree in Library Science, or related work experience with a Masters in History or Art History.

Desired Qualifications: Knowledge of metadata standards in the library and archives communities, some experience with arranging and describing archival or library collections, library preservation, digital imaging, Photoshop, and CONTENTdm.

Duties: 

The Oberlin College Library and Archives invites applicants for the position of Archives and Special Collections Intern. This is a temporary, part-time intern position working up to 20 hrs/week. Exact schedule to be determined at the time of offer. The term of the position will start on October 14, 2019 and end on April 17, 2020, with the possibility of an extension for another 6 months.

The position will support projects related to the arrangement and description of collections and the preservation of and access to digital assets. The position is supervised jointly by the Associate Archivist and the Curator for Visual Resources. This internship is an ideal experience for new professionals interested in a career in archives or special collections.

Essential Job Functions: Carry out work in support of the compiling, preservation, and access of digital assets, including audio and video files and digital images; provide digital images and scans for staff projects and patron requests; assist in the arrangement and description of archival and library collections; provide support for the creation of new or revised content for web pages on departmental websites; and assist with exhibit preparation.

Marginal Job Functions: Undertake special projects and duties as assigned.
