MLIS from and ALA accredited institution is required.
Experience with current cataloging codes, practices and MARC formats desired.
Understanding of and experience with computerized cataloging databases, such as OCLC, is strongly preferred.
Proficiency in basic computer knowledge and demonstrable ability to use applications in Windows environment including Microsoft Office products, internet use and email.
Reliability and above average work attendance with ability to work flexible schedule including day, evening and weekend hours.
Physical requirements: engage in extended periods of sitting while viewing a computer monitor and using a keyboard, and intermittent periods of standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching, climbing stairs, lifting and carrying equipment and materials occasionally weighing 40-60 pounds and pushing loaded book trucks weighing 75-100 pounds or more. Must be able to use hands and fingers to grasp, handle and manipulate a variety of materials and operate equipment including computers, phones and office machinery.

Reliable transportation in order to meet work requirements.
Valid Driver's license with acceptable driving record and current vehicle insurance.

The Cataloging Librarian is responsible for original and copy cataloging of print and non-print materials in a timely manner using standard cataloging tools and authority control practices. Essential tasks and responsibilities include:
Understand and support the Library's role in providing free and equal access to ideas, information, resources, and services, from all points of view, without restriction, to every individual (Intellectual Freedom)
Identify and prioritize work needs.
Consistently provide superior customer services.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor and other staff members and work collaboratively with others to achieve organizational goals and objectives.
Classify and catalog library materials using OCLC cataloging module, interface software and local automated system and equipment in accordance with departmental productivity standards.
Assign call numbers, subject headings and/or cross references using current cataloging codes and practices.
Perform a variety of quality control, problem resolution and other catalog maintenance activities, as required.
Edit, add and delete bibliographic records as required.
Keep daily statistics on cataloged materials.
Correct errors in the library's database as needed.
Recommend procedural changes in department.
Employ online database manipulation.
Perform original cataloging when needed.
Analyze bibliographic records to exercise appropriate authority control and make changes in the local authority control module when necessary.
Handle multiple activities or interruptions at once, sustaining accuracy and productivity.
Learn computer software programs for department needs.
Communicate effectively with other departments and locations explaining the library's cataloging practices and national cataloging standards.
Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Comply with Ohio Ethics Law and the Code of Ethics and values of the Library.
Promote and support the fundamental purpose of the public library, its mission, vision, culture and structure.
Enter brief title information for browsing items and link items to online system.
