About this Job
RESPONSIBILITIES (representative, not all inclusive): Recommend, implement, evaluate, and ensure adherence to Circulation Desk operating policies and procedures, making adjustments, as needed, to ensure effective and efficient operations; maintain written record of same. Interview, recommend for hire, train, schedule and assign work to staff and student workers. Provide input for staff performance evaluations. Gather and maintain data and prepare reports of Circulation Desk activity, staffing and library activity. Gather and compile statistics for accrediting agencies and state reports. Inspect damaged circulation materials, including books and equipment. Maintain performance and repair of circulation equipment; recommend equipment improvements. Coordinate return of books and materials to shelves or storage places. Investigate and resolve or respond to patron complaints in a timely and professional manner. Coordinate and execute collection maintenance projects, including annual inventory process. Monitor staff hours to comply with college policies. Monitor supply and equipment expenditures against budget. Perform routine circulation desk duties as necessary. Maintain patron confidentiality. Provide general information to callers and patrons and assist patrons using public access equipment, e.g., forms, scanners, laptops, and copiers. Train circulation desk staff to provide information and support. Troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment and recommend replacement equipment as needed. Direct regular inspection of library spaces for cleanliness and general upkeep. Investigate and report building/space maintenance issues in a timely and professional manner. Provide input for and maintain updated brochures, signage and other promotional materials focusing on library events and services. Organize, market, and coordinate programs and activities (e.g., Book Discussion Group, themed activities throughout the year including Banned Books Week, Women's History Month, etc.) that promote the library and reading literacy to the college campus and provide out-reach to the community.

Required Qualifications
EDUCATION/TRAINING AND WORK EXPERIENCE (Required)
Bachelor's degree
A minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in a public or academic library and related to areas of assignment
An equivalent combination of education and experience, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities are acceptable.
Desired Qualifications
EDUCATION/TRAINING AND WORK EXPERIENCE (Preferred)
Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited program
Prior supervisory experience
Work experience with Sierra ILS
