The Warren Trumbull County Public Library is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Deputy Director.  Established in 1890, the Library consists of a 70,000 sq. ft. Main Library location, five branch libraries and a Bookmobile. With a current full and part-time staff of 86, and an annual budget of $7.1 million, the Library serves the residents of Trumbull County.  More information about the Library may be obtained on the Library’s website at www.wtcpl.org.

Reporting to the Executive Director of the Library system, the Deputy Director is responsible for the overall day-to-day public service operations of both Warren, Mobile Library Services, branch library locations and system-wide youth and adult services.   The incumbent will be involved in the planning and decision-making for most areas of the Library’s operations, and will provide leadership in the absence of the Executive Director.  Essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to, ensuring the overall administration and operation of the Library; resolving both routine and non-routine issues in a timely manner; assists in formulation and administration of library policies, procedures and budget; facilitates interdepartmental cooperation and teamwork through ongoing communication; establishes positive relationships within the community.

Required Qualifications

Qualifications include, but are not limited to

  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible public library management experience required
  • Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited program; proven leadership skills; excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to build consensus; ability to analyze community needs and to help plan, develop and maintain collections and programs to meet those needs; and ability to represent the Library in a positive manner to a wide variety of agencies, organizations.
