About this Job

Reporting to the library director, the Head of Circulation oversees a staff of 25-30 student employees and one full-time library admin assistant. This person provides management and strategic direction to the circulation department, ensuring policies and procedures are carried out with friendly and efficient service to all patrons. This is a full-time, exempt-level position reporting to the Director of the Thomas Library.


Salary range starts at $36,000 and is dependent on experience

Required Qualifications

- A bachelor's degree and 3 - 5 years of relevant working experience is required (4 - 6 years experience is preferred). Four years of relevant work experience may substitute for a college degree.
- Proficiency with technology including Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint) and other software, databases and equipment as assigned.
- Excellent customer service skills are required.
- Strong oral and written communication skills are required.
- Progressively responsible management and supervisory experience are required
- Requires critical thinking skills with the ability to draw conclusions or approaches to problems to implement solutions.
- Must be able to concentrate on moderate detail with some interruption.
- Ability to remain stationary for long periods of the work day.
- Ability to frequently operate a computer and other office machinery such as a copy machine and computer printer.
- Ability to routinely move and transport equipment and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds (with assistance).
- Ability to position oneself to maneuver books and other materials.
- May be required to serve as temporary backup for other staff members which may require evening/weekend responsibilities.
- Occasional travel is required to attend professional development workshops and seminars.
- A valid driver's license is required; must meet required insurance qualifications found in Wittenberg Motor Pool policies and procedures. If license is from out of state, successful candidate will need to obtain a valid Ohio driver's license within 30 days of hire date.

Desired Qualifications

- Previous library experience is preferred
- Experience with integrated library system software is preferred
- Prior experience supervising college students is preferred
