Requirements: 

QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s Degree in Library Science or equivalent from an ALA accredited school or significant experience working in a law library.
Experience working in a library or legal environment.  
Legal research training or experience.
Familiarity with Westlaw, Microsoft Office and QuickBooks.
 

Work requires moderate physical activities including standing, kneeling, bending and occasional lifting of objects up to 20 pounds.

Duties: 

The Lorain County Law Library is looking for a full-time law librarian with strong management, organizational and legal research skills to manage its 10,000-volume library, located in Elyria, Ohio.  The library provides services to a wide variety of library users that includes elected officials, county government personnel, judges and court staff, private practice attorneys, and self-represented individuals.  The law librarian reports to the Lorain County Law Library Resources Board (LCLLRB).  
 
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Trains, supervises, and evaluates library staff.
Prepares law library budget; controls expenditures; processes bills for payment; balances monthly financial accounts and maintains financial reports and records.
Recommends policies to the LCLLRB; implements approved policies.
Assists library patrons with information requests; suggests appropriate resources and forms; assists attorneys with legal research.
Evaluates existing print and electronic collection materials to determine the best use of library funds to meet the needs of library users. 
Manages the cataloging and inventorying of all materials and equipment. 
Manages library space and facilities.
Develops programs that promote the use of the law library.
Recommends and integrates the application of new technologies.
Manages the computer network and library website.
Establishes effective working relationships with county departments and courts.
Participates in professional organizations to maintain awareness of developments in the administration of law libraries.
