Library Assistant - Cleveland Institute of Art
The Cleveland Institute of Art, one of the nation’s leading art and design colleges, is seeking a Library Assistant for technical services and patron services duties. The Jessica R. Gund Memorial Library fosters an inclusive atmosphere that encourages inquiry, inclusion, collaboration, and exploration to help our community think, create, share, engage, and grow.
Technical Services responsibilities include managing the library’s periodical collection, copy cataloging, and providing a broad range of clerical support for the library’s acquisitions, cataloging, and processing functions.
Circulation duties include providing circulation and reference services to a diverse and highly creative population.
• Bachelor’s degree. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
• Accuracy and attention to detail.
• Solid computer skills.
• Strong problem solving and prioritization skills.
• Friendly customer service expertise.
• Self-driven with the ability to work with minimal direction and maximum interruptions.
The work schedule for this full-time position varies. During the academic year, the work schedule will be afternoon and evening hours, Sunday through Thursday. During breaks, the work schedule is weekdays only.
Candidates must be able to lift objects up to 40 pounds each, repetitively handle books up to 5 pounds, move book trucks, move around the library, climb step stools and small ladders, kneel and stoop, use keyboard, answer phones, and must have manual dexterity to handle circulation and patron service functions, understandable speech, and correctable vision.
