The successful candidate must have a bachelor’s degree. Previous library experience is strongly desired, as is experience with III’s Sierra ILS. We are looking for someone with proven customer service experience, excellent communication skills, and strong computer and clerical skills. We are seeking a flexible individual with the desire to participate in a team setting, a strong commitment to providing quality customer service, the ability to prioritize tasks and work independently, and the capacity to thrive in a changing work environment.
Candidates must be able to lift objects up to 40 pounds each, repetitively handle books up to 5 pounds, move book trucks, move around the library, climb step stools and small ladders, kneel and stoop, use keyboard, answer phones, and must have manual dexterity to handle circulation and patron service functions, understandable speech, and correctable vision.

The Cleveland Institute of Art, one of the nation’s leading art and design colleges, is seeking a Library Assistant for technical services and patron services duties.
Primary technical services responsibilities include managing the library’s periodical collection and providing a broad range of clerical support for the library’s acquisitions, cataloging, and processing functions including copy cataloging, pre-order searching, communicating with vendors, repairing books, and preparing library materials to enter the collection.
Primary circulation duties include providing circulation and reference services to patrons and sole responsibility for library services when working on evenings and weekends.
There are opportunities to support, train, and supervise student assistants in both areas.
