Library Senior Support Specialist (Metadata Services)
About this Job
Catalogs library materials (new, gifts, replacements) in all formats (monographs, serials, DVDs, etc.) for all collections (general, children’s, media library, Regional campuses, etc.) by performing copy and complex copy cataloging; manages outsourced cataloging of materials, particularly Chinese, Japanese, and Korean (familiarity with these languages is not required).
Supports the institutional repository, OHIO Open Library, by entering, uploading, and managing data, metadata, and scholarly documents; contributes to the development and growth of the repository by communicating with potential collaborators inside and outside the Libraries.
Contributes to the department’s overall success and informs procedures by creating and updating department documentation; participates in or leads departmental tasks such as transferring and withdrawing materials and projects focused on diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility; and attends to other mission-critical tasks as necessary.

Required Qualifications
Specialized knowledge of library/museum activities. Extensive experience in libraries and advanced understanding of relevant policies and procedures typically obtained by a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 4 years of library/museum experience. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is acceptable.
Desired Qualifications
-Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills including setting and meeting project deadlines.
-Cataloging experience (with OCLC Connexion or Record Manager; Library of -Congress Classification; controlled vocabularies)
-Experience working with institutional repository services and systems.
-Demonstrated knowledge of metadata concepts and standards.
-Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively, in a changing environment.
