Public Services Team Liaison

Required Skills & Knowledge • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required. • 1 year previous supervision with directly reporting staff. • 3 years customer service experience required. • Library experience preferred. • Self-motivated, organized, efficient, and productive with excellent time management skills. • Proficient in MS Office software, especially Excel. • Ability to communicate clearly, effectively and diplomatically. • Demonstrated ability to lead; creative thinker and problem solver. • Ability to meet scheduling requirements including nights and weekends. Compensation & Benefits • Starting wage is $18.40/hour • Excellent benefits package including pick-up of employee’s portion of OPERS contribution
Essential Duties & Responsibilities • Customer Services Desk: Perform customer service functions including but not limited to opening and closing procedures; sorting/shelving materials; restocking merchandising materials. • Patron Assistance: Model exceptional customer service; provide advanced research, problem resolution and readers’ advisory for all ages; handle difficult patron situations with creativity and achieve results as needed. • Scheduling: Prepare daily schedules for all departments; oversee Public Services department scheduling changes including approving employee timesheets and change of schedule requests. • Staffing/Supervision: Provide daily staff oversight to Public Services Dept., including employee development and feedback; assist with task assignments. • Performance Management: Provide input for employee performance evaluations; assist with quarterly meetings with staff. • Training: Provide new hire orientation and training as well as develop training content for existing employees as needed. • Communication & Reporting: Work collaboratively with Team Leaders and Management Team, ensure both libraries are working to similar standards and procedures; review and update policies and procedures as needed; provide monthly departmental highlights, as well as updates to Public Services Dept.; communicate with patrons in person or in writing as needed. • Marketing: Actively promote library services, programs and materials to public and staff through both formal and informal means. • Library Operations: Manage and complete projects as assigned; work to fulfill the library’s mission and values. • Other tasks and duties as assigned.
