Requirements: 

Education:

  • A master’s degree in library science is required.

Experience: 

  • Instruction experience is preferred. 
  • Familiarity with library systems (Sierra, Worldshare, LibApps) is preferred.

Other

  • A positive attitude with excellent customer service skills is required.

Duties: 

Under the supervision of the Director of Pfeiffer Library, the Reference and Instruction Librarian contributes to student success through a wide range of library services such as reference, instruction, and outreach. The Reference and Instruction Librarian is integral in building and maintaining relationships for library services and collections for all university students, faculty, and staff. The librarian assists in the planning and execution of library events as well as serving as back-up support for circulation and cataloging. The Reference and Instruction Librarian is also charged with managing all functions of InterLibrary Loan lending. The ability to anticipate needs, think creatively, and produce quality results with many interruptions is essential to be successful in the position. Some nights and weekends may be required.

The Reference and Instruction Librarian is a staff position with faculty status and is responsible for the following duties:

  • Manages all incoming and outgoing InterLibrary Loan requests. 
  • Participates in reference services for all library patrons. 
  • Collaborates with and instructs students, faculty, and staff on accessing and using library resources. 
  • Creates and promotes information literacy learning opportunities both in-person and online. 
  • Creates web-based content to support information literacy instruction. 
  • Plans library events and promotes library activities through direct outreach, social media, and other medias as appropriate. 
  • Assists in collection development and material acquisitions in all formats.
  • Performs copy cataloging of materials as needed. 
  • Supports local and OhioLINK circulation as needed. 
  • Assists with the curation and maintenance of the university archive. 
  • Represents Pfeiffer Library at various institutional, consortia, and professional events or committees. 
  • Contributes to the overall goals of the Pfeiffer Library and Tiffin University. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
