ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Deliver library and information literacy instruction and workshops including presentations on information literacy concepts.
In collaboration with the Library Director and library staff, coordinate the planning, development, and assessment of library instruction.
Develop instructional resources, online tutorials, and contribute to the development and updating of the Library’s Research Guides and FAQs.
Work with faculty, staff, and students to identify needs and increase awareness and use of the library and its resources.
Participate in providing traditional and virtual reference services to library users.
Participate in collection development activities.
Develop Information Literacy Programs and Modules when it is determined that specific information literacy skills are needed for identified disciplines.
Assist in developing information literacy programs that deliver instruction to classes or in an asynchronous mode (such as a web-based module or tutorial).
Assess student information literacy skills and the effectiveness of information literacy instruction.
Aid individuals requesting help in using information resources. This service may be provided in-person, via phone, or virtually.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA- Accredited program or related field required.
Recent graduates and those within nine credits of MLIS degree completion to be completed within 12 months of hire will be considered.
Prior reference and instruction experience in a library setting preferred.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Strong commitment to customer service.
Skilled in providing proactive and innovative library services, especially with regards to reference and research assistance, library instruction, and liaison work.
Outstanding oral and written communication skills, instructional skills, and interpersonal skills.
Knowledgeable in information literacy theory and practices.
Familiarity with current and emerging library technologies including integrated library systems, discovery tools, research databases, and Springshare LibApps.
Proficient in the use of general and subject specific print and electronic reference resources.

The Reference and Instruction Librarian provides course-related and course-integrated library instruction, as well as in-person and virtual reference services. Responsibilities include the development of research and instructional materials that support student learning, collaboration with faculty to support academic programs, and participation in library collection development activities.
Flexibility to work weekends, weekdays, and afternoons is required.
This position will be based at our campus located in Steubenville, Ohio.
Travel to our Youngstown, OH campus is required.
