Requirements: 

High school diploma or equivalent certificate. 300 hours training in library practices and procedures (or three months of experience.) 200 hours training in use of computer terminal and/or audio-visual equipment (or two months experience); or equivalent. May require use of a foreign language. Proven ability to work independently and experience with tasks requiring attention to detail. Previous library experience preferred. Position requires the flexibility to work in multiple locations and use university-required transportation to travel between these locations. Job requires the ability to lift up to 40 lbs and climb ladders to retrieve matierials on mobile shelving and push carts of library materials. Qualified candidates may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen and background check.

Duties: 

This position functions as a Program Coordinator within the Health Sciences Library overseeing remote storage operations for print collections. Manages HSL print item holds and interlibrary services requests from remote location and makes sure requests are made within required time frames; tracks transport of materials from remote location to the library; reshelves items; performs book and journal stacks maintenance; maintains bibliographic records for print resources; oversees scanning of print materials for Interlibrary services; gathers data and produces reports related to print resource availability locally and nationally; assists collection development librarian in reviewing and making decisions related to future of print books and journals in the HSL collection.  Cross trained with Public Services staff to fill scheduled shifts at the Public Services Desk: provides a high level of customer service that requires complex problem-solving skills; performs circulation functions; provides basic reference and patron assistance; performs database searches; instructs and educates customers in using library resources and equipment.  Assists Public Services Manager and Collection Development Librarian with training and scheduling for HSL remote location.
