Required Qualifications:

MLS from an ALA-accredited institution (or completion of at least 33 credit hours of an ALA-accredited MLS program at the time of application with expected graduation date of May 2021).

Excellent written communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to meet University Libraries’ promotion and tenure standards in librarianship, research, and service.

In addition to meeting the qualifications listed above, candidates requesting appointment at the rank of associate professor must meet the University Libraries’ requirements for promotion and tenure: five or more years of professional library experience; evidence of excellent professional achievement; and a strong record of peer-reviewed scholarship.
Preferred Qualifications: While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

Degree in a STEM field; previous applicable experience working with STEM faculty or researchers; or 12 or more credits of college coursework in STEM.

Teaching experience, especially in an academic setting.

Demonstrated ability to plan, initiate, and implement projects and services.

Knowledge of libraries’ role in supporting the research life cycle

Excellent oral communication skills.

Excellent presentation skills.

Knowledge of various technology systems in library or academic environments.

Successful experience working in a dynamic and changing environment.

Duties:
-
Provides leadership for advanced research services offered by the University Libraries such as publication analysis and metrics, citation impact reports, and data management consultations.

Actively seeks opportunities to collaborate with campus partners in identifying and promoting research support for faculty and graduate student research projects, grant proposals, etc.

Develops and coordinates workshops and presentations related to advanced research services.

Assists with the use of Scholars’ Commons.

Serves as a member of the Research Team and provides research consultation support.
-
Serves on the Instruction Team and provides library instruction to academic departments within the School of Engineering and the physical sciences, as well as a limited number of general education classes.
-
Serves as collection liaison to the School of Engineering and physical sciences.
-
Conducts research and disseminates the findings through publication in peer-reviewed journals, major national meetings, and other venues.

Serves on various library, University, and professional committees.
