Required qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; one year of cataloging experience, including serials cataloging experience; knowledge of periodicals publishing and formats; demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills; attention to detail; ability to manage projects; excellent oral and written communication skills; aptitude for learning new technologies or software.

Desired qualifications: Workflow analysis, project management and/or documentation experience; knowledge of the CONSER serials description framework; experience working with library software, such as OCLC Connexion, Innovative Sierra Integrated Library System, or similar systems; demonstrated ability to work collaboratively to complete complex tasks.

The Ohio State University Libraries seeks an innovative individual to fill the position of Serials Program Assistant. This position serves as an integral member of the Electronic Resources Management Team (Acquisitions and Discovery Program, Content & Access Division). Reporting to the Electronic Resources Officer, the position focuses on cataloging activities for serials materials (all formats). Collaborates with colleagues, including those working on the batch loading program and electronic resources knowledge bases, to provide intellectual control over serials. Coordinates recording of print retention commitments and ensures accuracy for serials holdings statements. Performs analysis and uses judgment to identify and resolve issues. Plans and implements short-term and long-term projects to achieve accuracy goals. Manages the print serials check-in process and supervises student employees performing check-in. All other duties as assigned.
