MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited library school required
Experience and Training
Experience with cataloging, technical services, and collection development and management required.
Experience with an integrated library system
Comprehensive knowledge of integrated library system software and bibliographic supports systems.
Must be able to produce required reports, printouts, data as needed.
Ability to interpret information and make decisions in accordance with standards and best practices in bibliographic services.
Comprehensive knowledge of OCLC cataloging protocols, Anglo-American Cataloging Rules (2nd edition), USMarc, Dewey Decimal Classification, Library of Congress subject headings, authority control standards, and familiarity with Resource Description and Access (RDA).
This position is required to complete assigned University compliance training as communicated by the University.
Catalogs and classifies print and online information resources as well as objects and equipment; analyzes and interprets resource data and applies appropriate bibliographic metadata standards and formats
Supervises and manages student employees, as necessary, to enhance their academic and professional development
Maintains quality assurance of all records in the library catalog and establishes or updates department policies by keeping abreast of current cataloging and OPAL/OhioLINK practices.
Manages and interprets copyright compliance issues associated with the copying and distributing of library-owned or licensed information resources
Monitors and analyzes resource sharing data to support library strategic planning and collection development
Develops and implements policies and procedures, and oversees mediated lending of library collections and information resources
Manages requests from faculty and other library users and obtains requested research and information resources
Manages the organization, processing and storage of library and university archive collections.
Supports the library’s reference services with scheduled desk hours. Provides research help services via the library’s LibAnswers and LibGuides platforms.
Maintains collection integrity with weeding protocols and inventory assessments.
Serves as a liaison to academic departments by supporting collection development, instruction in information literacy, and maintaining faculty contacts.
Participates in professional, library, and university service and engagement activities as appropriate.
