Youth Services Coordinator
About this Job
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for management of the library’s Youth Services Department, including:
• Hires, trains, schedules, supervises, and evaluates staff for Children and Teen areas.
• Serves as a member of the library’s management team, working with Director and other Coordinators on planning, projects, policies, and issues related to managing the library in order to fulfill the library’s vision and mission.
• Supervises collection development of adult materials through selection, assessment, and weeding.
• Delivers exception customer service to both internal and external customers and stakeholders.
• Develops, maintains and communicates departmental policy and procedure, and trains staff in effective implementation of those policies.
• Stays current on trends in Library services and makes recommendations for new and improved Library services.
• Oversees the planning and implementation of programs and tours and actively participates in presenting programs.
• Participates in and represents the library at community events and acts as a liaison with area community groups.
Salary
$48,184 - $77,712 DOQ
Required Qualifications
• Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution (or currently in a program working towards a Master’s degree in library science)
• Three years of library experience.
• Knowledge of professional library principles, methods, techniques, and procedures.
• Knowledge of budgets and experience with management of available funds preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years in Collection Development
• Minimum of 2 years in programming and project management experience
• Proficient using technology, with demonstrated ability in Microsoft Office products, Internet searching, and all other digital resources provided by the library
• Strong customer service orientation with 4 years serving the public
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills
• Collaborative and creative, with a win-win disposition
• Demonstrated ability to lead in a team environment
Desired Qualifications
At least one year of supervisory experience preferred.

Position is full-time, exempt. Some evenings and weekends required.
