OhioNet’s Managed Proxy Service
Library systems administration and support is a long-standing pillar of OhioNet’s service portfolio. With our proxy service, we offer a fully managed approach – a feature that is appreciated by the 80 member libraries who participate in this service.
Under that arrangement, we manage all aspects of deploying, configuring, and maintaining each member’s proxy server. We work with staff to create custom configurations tailored to each institution’s needs, as well as providing timely support in navigating access issues and making configuration changes.

Michael Dziabiak, our Library Systems Administrator, plays a pivotal role in our proxy service by coordinating new proxy implementations and managing much of the underlying proxy infrastructure. In his role, he values the opportunity to collaborate directly with members.
“I enjoy managing the EZproxy service because it gives me the opportunity to connect one-on-one with library staff and share the challenges and successes that come with providing access to vendor-based e-resources,” Dziabiak said.
Michael’s commitment is evident in the way he supports members through transitions and ongoing service needs. Carrie Preston, Head of Library Information Technology Services at Ohio University Libraries, shared:
“Ohio University is in the midst of transitioning EZproxy from our campus IT department to OhioNet. Implementation of the new server has been much smoother than expected, and Michael has been extremely knowledgeable and responsive. We hope to benefit from the deep EZproxy-specific expertise OhioNet can provide.”
Our managed proxy service is just one of the many ways we directly support our members. Working closely with library staff helps us better understand evolving needs and continuously refine how we serve the consortium. We’re grateful to the members who entrust us with this work.
