Director’s Desk: Connecting with Member Libraries Across Ohio
This time of year typically finds folks planning their summer adventures, whether that’s a beach trip, exploring a new city, or stay-cationing in Ohio. I’m also busy planning to get on the road again (cue the music) to visit member libraries across the state.

Last year, I visited over 30 libraries, and I can’t wait to explore more this year. These visits are one of my favorite parts of my job because they turn “member support” into something tangible. It’s inspiring to meet the people behind the work, see library spaces in action, and visit the communities our members serve…I love a good local lunch spot!
I’m always reminded that no two libraries are exactly the same. Some are experimenting with new spaces and services, some are navigating staffing or funding constraints, some are supporting communities in crisis, and many are juggling it all.
Despite the challenges, the commitment to learners, readers, and library users is consistent everywhere I go. Witnessing that commitment energizes the work we do at OhioNet. I look forward to connecting with even more members in the months ahead and continuing to support the important work happening in libraries and communities across Ohio.
Sincerely,
Katy B. Mathuews, Executive Director & CEO
