MARC (Machine-Readable Cataloging) is the language most libraries use to encode the records for their collections. Building on the basic overview of MARC provided in our introductory webinar series, this session dives into the details of each of the major tag groups and highlights areas of importance for different material types.
Attendees of this event will have the opportunity to:
- Discuss best practices and explore options for local variations.
- Explore freely available MARC reference resources.
- Examine each of the MARC coding tag groups.
- Highlight areas most relevant for various material types.

OhioNet MakerFest: A Summit for Library Makers and Makerspaces takes place on June 18, 2025, at the State Library of Ohio. This in-person event will explore how organizations can establish, maintain, and enhance making programs or makerspaces across library types.
Attendees will hear from keynote speaker Sarah Nagle, Creation and Innovative Services Librarian at Miami University, as she presents “Envisioning the Future of Equity and Belonging in Library Makerspaces.” OhioNet MakerFest will feature a day of sessions including our keynote speaker, a practitioner panel, and hands-on activities.
