Q&A with Spencer Lamm

Q: What is your role at OhioNet, and what will you be working on?

A: I’m the Library Systems Analyst. I provide systems support to OhioNet members and work on project-based initiatives, like exploring Alma Digital for members who are using CONTENTdm.

Q: Can you share a bit about your professional background?

A: I’ve been a librarian since 2007, and throughout that time, I’ve worked extensively with library systems — installing, supporting, and leading teams of developers and systems administrators. I’ve also consistently worked with digital archives and special collections. OhioNet is the third consortium I’ve worked with. My career began at Swarthmore College, part of the Tri-College Consortium with Bryn Mawr and Haverford, and most recently I was with the Five Colleges of Ohio: Denison, Kenyon, Oberlin, Ohio Wesleyan, and Wooster.

Q: What’s your educational background?

A: I earned both my B.A. in History and my M.S. in Library and Information Science from the University of Washington.

Q: Where do you call home?

A: I live in lovely Delaware, Ohio.

Q: What hobbies and interests keep you busy outside of work?

A: In a previous life — back in Seattle — I was a drummer, and I’ve recently picked it back up. I’ve been playing music with friends in Delaware and having a great time. My son is also a percussionist in his high school marching band, so there’s a lot of drumming going on at our house! Otherwise, I’m usually reading. Right now, I’m bouncing between The Fall of Paris: The Siege and the Commune 1870–71 and Game of Thrones.
