CHILDREN’S ASSOCIATE (2 Positions Available)

About this Job

Euclid Public Library is accepting applications for two (2) energetic, sociable, and creative people to join the Youth Services team. The successful applicants will have experience working with children, tweens, and/or teens. Responsibilities include answering reference questions in-person, by phone, and email, including recommending books to youth for leisure and helping to find resources for school assignments, compiling resources for teachers, preparing and conducting programs for children and families such as storytime for preschoolers and programming for babies or school age children, conducting classroom visits, and assisting youth and their families with the use of computers and printers. The incumbents will also have to enforce the library rules with library patrons of all ages.

Schedule for Position 1: 12:45pm-9:00pm on Mondays and Thursdays, 8:00am-5:00pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, alternating Fridays (8:00am-5:00pm) and Saturdays (8:30am-5:00pm). Sunday work is available (1:00pm-5:00pm) from October to May. Sunday work is above and beyond the regular 40-hour schedule.

Schedule for Position 2: 8:00am-5:00pm on Mondays and Tuesdays, 12:45pm-9:00pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays, alternating Fridays (8:00am-5:00pm) and Saturdays (8:30am-5:00pm). Sunday work is available (1:00pm-5:00pm) from October to May. Sunday work is above and beyond the regular 40-hour schedule.

Desired Qualifications

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required. Knowledge of children’s interests and pop culture useful, proficiency with Microsoft Office/Office 365 applications a plus. Library experience helpful, experience working directly with children is preferred. The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to learn about books and resources for youth. Valid Ohio Driver’s License required.
