PART-TIME STAFF: LIBRARY TECHNICAL SERVICES ASSISTANT

General Description of Position: This position performs duties and responsibilities related to technical services functions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Under the supervision of the Chair or the Chair’s designee place Firm library books orders, Standing Orders, ebook orders, serials orders,
• Receive library materials: unpack firm & standing orders, verify invoices, and update order records,
• Pay invoices and post in Sierra and reconcile with library budget,
• Support copy-cataloging received materials using OCLC WMS Record Manager,
• Process physical materials,
• Update records and delete records and materials,
• Perform a variety of technical duties supporting serials acquisitions,
• Collect data for and prepare reports of library activity,
• Assist library personnel with special projects,
• Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Knowledge of and experience with specialized library software including but not limited to Gobi, OCLC WMS Record Manager, and Sierra.
• Knowledge of current office practices, procedures, and equipment; library procedures; basic mathematics.
• Skills in following oral and written instructions; maintaining files.
• Abilities to learn and apply applicable library policies and procedures; operate standard office equipment and various telecommunications networks; perform routine and detailed tasks in an accurate and efficient manner; maintain effective interpersonal working relationships.
Physical Activity Level
• Moderate - Sit sometimes; walk and stand sometimes, lift occasionally.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
• This is a part-time, 20 hours per week, continuing staff position, which requires the availability to work daytime hours.
• The hourly salary is at grade 6A of the staff salary schedule with a starting rate between $17.30/per hour and $22.06/per hour dependent upon education and experience.
• Non-insurance benefits include paid time away for vacation, personal, sick days and holidays, prorated tuition, and School Employees Retirement System of Ohio (SERS).

QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Training and Experience Preferred
• Bachelor’s degree and previous library work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities is acceptable.

• MLIS with technical services experience preferred.
