Located in Warren, Pennsylvania at the edge of the Allegheny National Forest in beautiful northwest Pennsylvania, the Warren Library Association is seeking an Executive Director. The 150-year-old Library Association, governed by a 12-member board, is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, serving 26,392 residents locally with an annual budget of $1.2 million and 23 dedicated full- and part-time staff. Additional support comes from the Friends of Warren Public Library.
The Library also serves as the District Library Center and administrator of the five-county, 17-member Seneca District, all of which are independent and serve a total population of 120,683. The 1916 building has recently undergone an extensive renovation, including the addition of a large and very active Teen Space.
The Director provides leadership for the overall effective and efficient operation of the Library. Duties involve planning, policy development, outreach, fundraising, directing all phases of Library operation, human resources, project management, and representing the Library in the community, at the state level, and to elected officials. The successful candidate will possess excellent budgeting, planning, leadership and interpersonal skills, plus written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact well with both staff and the public.

Salary

62,000-72,000

Required Qualifications

This position requires an ALA-accredited MLS and a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible library service, including at least two (2) years in an administrative capacity. A Pennsylvania criminal background check, Childline child abuse clearance, and FBI criminal background check are required.

Desired Qualifications

As this Library is a nonprofit organization, experience in the nonprofit arena is beneficial. Familiarity with the Pennsylvania District Library Center concept is a plus. Experience with grant writing is desirable.
