About this Job

Reporting to the head of research services, the research services scholarly impact librarian plays a critical role in executing the University Libraries’ strategic initiatives and fulfilling the University’s mission by providing scholarly impact supports to Ohio University researchers. The successful candidate will help researchers analyze and articulate their scholarly research impact through both traditional and alternative metrics and assist with promoting their scholarly output through the use of identifiers and other current and emerging programs. Additionally, this librarian will engage with campus partners to support adherence to open data mandates, collaborate with researchers to facilitate the dissemination of open data to the public, and will provide guidance on open access publishing models. The research services scholarly impact librarian also will also serve as a subject expert within the social sciences and provides instruction, reference, and consultation services to faculty and students in assigned academic areas. Serving as a member of the social sciences disciplinary team, they will cooperatively build sustainable collections for the University’s research and instructional needs.

Salary

$44,592 to $59,085

Required Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited school or from a master’s level program in library and information studies accredited or recognized by the appropriate national body of another country.*

Experience and/or training/coursework related to the life cycle or analysis of research data.

Demonstrated familiarity and/or interest in open access scholarship.

Knowledge of bibliometrics, altmetrics, and/or scholarly identifiers to analyze scholarly impact.

Effective communication skills.

Ability to work with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.

Commitment to continuous improvement and development.

*A bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of full-time, substantial, and directly related library experience in an academic library required in lieu of an ALA master’s degree.

Desired Qualifications

Teaching or presentation experience.

Experience working in an academic library.

Demonstrated success with collaborative assignments.

Undergraduate degree or coursework in the social sciences.

Collection management experience or coursework relevant to building and maintaining library collections.

Experience and/or strong interest in learning statistical packages to support scholarly impact analysis.
