Columbus State library introduces new strategic plan, facilitated by OhioNet’s consulting services

The Unlimited Possibilities consulting team at OhioNet has been working with the staff of the Columbus State Community College Library (CSCC Library) over the last few months to pilot OhioNet’s new strategic planning process called EXPLORE. Rooted in appreciative inquiry and human centered design, the EXPLORE model of strategic planning is strengths-based and inclusive. Through this process, the CSCC Library was able to engage over 100 stakeholders to explore their best experiences with the library and their ideas and wishes for the future. Library staff participated in an Exploration Summit to sift through the stakeholder input, contribute their own ideas, and discover their key strategic areas of focus for the next few years. Library Director, Dana Knott, had this to say about the planning summit and the new CSCC Library strategic plan:

Wow. Such a collaborative and enjoyable event. Michelle and Andrew alleviated the pressure and stress from coming up with direction and ideas. I don’t think most would see such a strategic planning process as enjoyable, but we enjoyed the exploration, collaboration, and fun. The Exploration Summit alleviated any dread associated with strategic planning. Amazing that we now have a tangible, clear plan that reflects our values and community needs.
